Description

The KPFK family, the Black community in Southern California and the Pan Africanists across the nation and the world suffered a loss with the death on Tuesday August 26th, of long time activist and KPFK programmer Dedon Kamathi.

We spend the hour hearing from those who knew and worked with Dedon, as a militant, a surfer, a Pan Africanist, a family man, a man who practiced transcendental meditation and shared that practice with others. Dedon’s death has left a void. We say farewell to Dedon.

Guests include his partner Tej Grewall, former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, historian Dr. Gerald Horne, Pan African film festival founder Ayuko Babu, his good friend George Quant, a representative of his surfing club and others.
