Today, we bring you the fourth and final part of our Sojourner Truth series covering the Mass Poor Peoples Assembly and Moral March on Washington, D.C., a digital justice gathering. It was hosted by the Poor Peoples Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival.

Held on June 20, 2020, the event brought together poor and impacted people from all walks of life, calling for systemic change. Participants also spoke out against the interconnected problems of racism, poverty, militarism and the war economy and environmental destruction. Millions of people in the U.S. and around the world participated in the historic event. The Mass Poor Peoples Assembly and Moral March on Washington, D.C. was organized under the leadership of co-chairs Rev. Dr. William J. Barber and Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis.

They relaunched the movement started in 1968 by the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. under the banner, Poor Peoples Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival. It is a new grassroots, cross-generational and multi-racial fusion movement that brings together all poor and impacted people.
