Welcome to Sojourner Truth, thank you for staying with us. Today, we return to the UN to hear President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, deliver his address to the 68th General Assembly. In 2012 the UN upgraded Palestine’s status to a “Non-Member Observer State” in what was seen as a rare victory for the increasingly marginalized nation. In his address President Abbas reminds the world of the challenges still faced by his people; the legacy of the 1948 Nakba, the plight of Palestinian refugees, and the aggressive expansion of Israeli settlements in the Gaza Strip.
Then we go back to this years AFL-CIO convention to speak to James Jordan, National Co-Coordinator for the Alliance for Global Justice about the Colombian Labor Movement. Can US labor be an ally to workers in the Global South?
