Description

Join us on “Sojourner Truth” with host Margaret Prescod on the ground in Washington DC from the studios of WPFW.

As the week marking the 50th anniversary of the historic March on Washington wraps up. We hear about the little known history about some of the controversies following youth led protests in the aftermath of the murder of NAACP Mississippi field secretary Medgar Evers. Our guest is civil rights leader Dave Dennis, why did he have to miss the 1963 March on Washington?

For our weekly roundtable, our panelists reflect on the impact of the civil rights era: on how the civil rights movement influenced other movements nationally and globally; their thoughts on the 50th anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington events; the inter-relationship between civil rights at home and global human rights.

And Syria: the UK Parliament has voted against participation in a strike against Syria; and relying in part on reported Israeli intelligence the Obama administration indicates it is ready to go alone on Syria and Iran says it will support Russia in opposing any US strike on Syria, meanwhile Russia is moving war ships into the region.

Panelists are: Jackie Goldberg; Tom Hayden and Dr. Clarence Lusane, political science professor and writer on US foreign policy, international relations and race politics.
