Abbie Gardner (www.abbiegardner.com) visits TRADITIONS with Ron Olesko to discuss her new album "Dobrosinger".Abbie has spent the last year making the record she’s always wanted to make. It’s intimate, real and raw - her dobro and voice recorded at home, without a band or any studio tricks to hide behind. This is just a girl and her resonator guitar sitting down to play you songs. The result is stunning - you can hear every breath, every chuckle, as if you are in the room with her.
The album includes 4 co-writes, 5 songs that Abbie wrote on her own and 2 cover songs. Three different guitars were used. Two microphones were used - one new and one stolen from a bass player. Two engineers were harassed with questions. All for these 11 tracks.
In the space since her previous record, Abbie’s vocals and dobro playing have both matured to a place where they share the spotlight equally. Though in this case, the stage is a tiny recording studio and the spotlight is a candle.
