James Hayford presents ‘Two’ - the second release of a three part series for Filtered Deluxe Recordings. ‘Two’ goes into a deeper sonic spectrum with strong influences of African music and warm psychedelic textures, delivering a sound of mid-tempo dance energy and chill-out vibes. ‘Two’ features the original artwork of Zach Mastoon aka Caural.
We begin with the Ethio Jazz vibes of ‘Deer At Market’ featuring mid tempo break beats, smoky dub layers, and the radiant saxophone work of William Suvanne (Quantine Big Band Helsinki, Suvanne).
Next is ‘Spaced Out, Lighten Up’. A sonic sunrise ritual built from Afro-Latin percussion and guitar samples. A true masterpiece of hypnotic and laidback Afro-Tech bliss.
RIYL : Peace Orchestra, Auntie Flo, Dzihan and Kamien, Débruit, Afro-Tech, Downtempo, Global Beats
James Hayford has been making sample based music for over two decades. His signature sound has a wide range of influences from the 90s, such as golden era hip hop, Chicago house and Detroit techno - as well as shoegaze, alternative rock, ambient compositions, dub reggae, funk, soul and Afro-Latin sounds. He's cut his own path with his iconic re-edits labels Shoes and Plimsoll Records, and is now releasing his own brand of genre defying music through the Florida based label Filtered Deluxe Recordings, run by his friend and musical accomplice Stereo 77.
