Dear friend of mine achieved one milestone in her long road called life. I wanted to remember her but I didn't have a faintest idea what I could get to her. I had no idea nor money :). I personally give huge respect to all 'made by own hands' -stuff. So, I thought, I could something like that too and I decided to make her a song. Song which is the other side of a story. Our story in this long road of life, so far and when I started thinking this further I think I knew few things she liked in music. So, with this semi-pro-based-gut-feeling I decided to tell a story in a way I think she would like to hear it.
Now, when writing this here, job described in that first paragraph looks too complex to most of the people and without any give parameters and without any boundaries it stinks to "never-ending-soul-eating-project". But, to me it looked just perfect because when it comes to creativity I believe that rules and boundaries just shackle our inner spark. When you do just what you do and embrace whatever comes out, no mater what it is you do, thats only way to have 100%-pure-you-whatever-it-is-you-do as a result. Im not gonna even try to write it simpler way because story is one slice of life and we all know that life is anything else but simple or easy :) Anyways, so I wrote:
"Laura, happy birthday!
It's been quite a ride in this road we call life. I hope that you could enjoy it's bumps and curves many years to come. I couldn't get you anything physical to give but it doesn't cost me a thing to make you a song. Song that tells my side of our story, told in a way I think you would like to hear it. I made it with my bare hands and wise ears. I just started to play piano and everything else just followed. I had no plan, no rules nor limitations and all the time in the world. It almost got out of hand and I decided that this length is the best for this story because life is supposed to be enjoyed in a smaller bites. I hope you could feel joy and be calm. I hope you feel sadness but feel strong. I hope you could feel loneliness and realise to be loved to the end of times by beautiful children of yours. I hope you could feel something new every time you listen it. I hope it brings back an old memory which were almost faded away. I hope it brings back a feeling inside of you which you thought was forever gone. I just hope you allow yourself to feel whatever you want because only by feeling you can be sure you are alive. Thats why life is full of so many feelings to be felt. Good and bad. All the same. I felt. Oh, I felt so much while creating it and more I felt, more I was alive. Such power we have there which doesn't cost a thing to be created but it can make us feel alive. Thats what I call to the power of music.
