In this message the focus is as much on Abram’s nephew Lot as it is on the great patriarch. The problem of too much wealth has divided families throughout human history and Lot falls foul of this great temptation. He leaves Abram and the promises of God for the promise of fertile lands and increased prosperity. Such is the temptation he is oblivious and naïve to the dangers of Sodom and the true cost of his decision. We too face many temptations to leave God’s promises, the allure of sin is strong, and we must be vigilant and cling to the one who now holds the promises – our Lord Jesus Christ. In Him we too are blessed but not apart from Him. He is worth giving up riches for, or fame or fortune, because in Him only, are we truly blessed!
