After the grim picture of the destructive rampage beasts in chapter 13, this chapter reveals God's strategy and final answer to overcoming evil. Soaked in Old Testament imagery, John captures three visions. The first vision is of a huge number of God's people who are faithful followers of the lamb. Marked by God's ownership, they diligently avoid compromising with the beasts. The second vision is of flying angels administering both God's gospel and his judgement and calling on Christ's disciples to exercise patient endurance. The third vision is of the final harvest in which God and his angels execute final justice, something which should be left in his hands rather than the church taking the law into his own hands. Each vision is a stirring call for the followers of the lamb to obediently and patiently keep faithful.
