In this passage we see the genius of Jesus’ teaching, as he helps a lawyer see what it really means to love your neighbour. Jesus shows how neighbourly love crosses social, cultural, and racial barriers and is generous to the point of overflowing. In this parable we see Jesus as the Great Samaritan who loves us (his enemies) with extravagant generosity. As we receive this truth only then can we go and do likewise and become the loving church that God is calling us to be!
