Description

'“Mercedes Benz” is a lonely blues tune about the illusory happiness promised (but rarely delivered) by the pursuit of worldly goods,
Janis Joplin was known for living her life in the fast lane and, during her short but remarkable career, she made herself an unstoppable force that was undoubtedly the voice of her generation. Her free spirit and rebellious streak would tragically lead to the singer losing her battle with addiction when she was only 27-years-old. Just three days before her death, Joplin recorded vocals on the track ‘Mercedes Benz’, an iconic number that is even more breathtaking when you realise that was the very last time she would step foot in a recording studio.’ excerpt from an article in Far Out by Joe Taysom

I’ve sung this magical song at too many gigs to remember...
When i broke a guitar string- as a powerful end to a set ...or simply because there's a Joplin fan in most audiences and they asked for it! Also it is my Mum’s favourite!
I hope you enjoy my version of Janis Joplin's’ Mercedes Benz. ’ Love Salx
