* History as astronomers see the birth of a black hole
For the first time in history, astronomers have watched as a massive, dying star collapsed and was reborn as a black hole. The star, which was 25 times as massive as the Sun, should have exploded in a very bright core collapse or type 2 supernova.
*New Zealand’s launches new rocket into space
New Zealand has hosted the maiden flight of the new Electron rocket. However, things didn’t go quite to plan for the inaugural mission with the launch vehicle failing to reach orbit.
