Israel’s refusal to release tax revenue from Gaza and the West Bank has forced the Palestinian Authority to stop paying wages to over 155,000 public servants. Abbas has also postponed elections because Israel would not allow them and also because he would lose to a new group in the Fatah movement.
The leader of this group, Marwan Barghouti was jailed some years ago and remains in solitary confinement … postponement of the elections makes mockery of the two-state solution relied upon by political parties throughout the world (including the current Australian government) as the way forward.
