Description

This week the Syrian army said that it had secured the city of Hallab (Alleppo) – the centre of the country’s commerce. This is a considerable victory for Assad’s coalition government. In the streets of Brisbane protestors were calling for the downfall of that government. That is not going to happen and if it did what is the alternative proposed? The Al Nusra front? Al Quaeda? ISIS? What is the revolution that protesters call for? Who can combat imperialism in the Levant? Where is the political organisation that can implement the resistance struggle? On 6 March 2016, long before the outcome predicted, I did this interview with David McIllwain from 'Australians for reconciliation in Syria' . The motto of his advice is 'be careful what you wish for'. For the transcript of the entire interview is at https://pshift4zzz.wordpress.com/2016/03/06/syria/ (Photo is from the Spanish Civil War).
