Broadcast 28 Mar 2014 - Andy interviews Nick Carsons about opposition to East-West link freeway in Melbourne.
Wherever you go in the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne are, you can see signs declaring "trains not toll roads" and "no to the east-west link".
The construction of the Eastern Freeway 30 years ago was marked with controversy and protest actions, and now the proposed tunnel that would link it to the Western Tullamarine Highway has met a sustained resistance that has made headlines, cost money and forced law changes.
In the last fortnight, an anti-tunnel activist was even hospitalised after being run over by Premier Dennis Napthine's car. I spoke to activist Nick Carson in Melbourne about the proposed tunnel and the resistance to it.
