Description

Rednecks call Tamworth 'Vegemite Town'. We call it Gomeroi country. The music industry says it is the home of country music and the golden guitar. It has a bicentennial park celebrating colonialism 1788-1988 with a Tex Morton statue at the fringe just over from the duck pond. It is here that we gathered people from bundaberg, brisbane, central coast of nsw, gunnedah, moree, sydney, and all points east south north and west. we marched on DOCS at 14-16 bourke street tamworth about 20 strong, grandmothers, daughters, aunties and uncles. afterwards we went back to mara mara indigenous housing tamworth to speak to DOCS management, jeff mills and leigh smith about the children who had been stolen. here are some of the many stories we heard at the rally & the forum.
