Description

Queensland's embattled Chief Justice Tim Carmody this week has offered his resignation. During his ten-months in the state's top judicial job, the court system has seen fierce in-fighting and controversy including judges publicly challenging and condemning Justice Carmody and the Court of Appeal President Margaret McMurdo refusing to work with him due to his handling of the appeal case of Daniel Morcombe's killer.

The Queensland Council for Civil Liberties, an organisation which describes itself as "concerned with the protection of individual rights and civil liberties" has been very vocally opposing Chief Justice Tim Carmody due to his relationship with the Liberal National Party and the former Newman government.

In this story, John Ballot (4zzz zedlines) interviews Michael Cope, President of the Queensland Council for Civil Liberties, about the history of the problems with Justice Carmody.
