Just before Christmas the New South Wales state government announced new laws for cyclists.
One law which was welcomed by many cyclists was a minimum distance for motorists passing cyclists of one metre. Other laws, such as severe fine increases for cyclists and a requirement for anyone riding a bike to carry photo ID, were not quite so enthusiastically received.
