Description

On May Day 2023, we celebrated the need for 'voice' and 'treaty' and 'truth'.

But here is a Kamilaroi/Yuggera man, Daniel Kinchela, a protector watching over the lands of the Yuggera/Ugarapul ancestors. He watches on as scabs take his shelter from ancestral land that owns him via birthrites on his father's side and he retains a historical connection to King Sandy and King Jackey who were indentured at Deebing Creek and Purga Missions. At Deebing Creek is near Ipswich just one day after the annual May Day celebrations, CFMEU members are in support of first nations people objecting to the desecration of their land.

What about the voice when Ipswich council and developers are still stealing aboriginal land?

It's nearly six months since we made a report about what is happening at Deebing Creek, a former mission. It's at 144 Grampian drive, Deebing Heights QLD for those people who want to go out and have a look about what's going on there. - Ian Curr, Ed., 2 May 2023
