Nearly forty years ago today, women were under attack by the Queensland Government. Their right to organise was curbed by the state, they were not permitted to rally and march in the streets to voice their demands. This is a speech given by Chris V from the Civil Liberties Co-ordintating Committee on 4 mar 1978 together with a song 'Oh you Suckers' sung by the women's choir.
Soon after these women were arrested en masse by the Qld police force under orders by the Qld government. Fifty people were arrested that day standing up for womens rights and other democratic rights. Ian Curr, 6 Mar 1978.
