Description

When a friend asked Doug Hoyer what his 6th album, Getting Older, sounded like, he enthusiastically replied:

“You know my other 5 albums? It's a lot like those!”

While the restless Canadian indie-pop songwriter has varied his sonic palette over the past decade, here he is consistently rooted in his wry, playful yet sincere, reflective songwriting. Getting Older showcases a focus on lyrical precision, needling the thread on topics such as aging, perspective, family, resource extraction, and the perennial theme of change.

All songs written by Doug Hoyer, with Joe Gurba assisting with lyrical revisions on "The Crusader's Call". All songs registered with SOCAN.

The lyrics to "Origami" were partially inspired by Ken Liu's short story, 'The Paper Menagerie'
