House Saladcast 857 | Vicmari
Blur Records / Closer to Truth
Cape Town, South Africa
Producer and live performer, Vicmari is undoubtedly one of South Africa’s most unique electronic music acts. His tracks which often contain hypnotic melodies and groovy bass lines are complemented by his affinity for acoustic, ambient sounds as well a good dose of classic House grooves.
Vicmari’s musical journey really began back in 2011 when he connected with Daniel Paul Behemann, founder of Slope Music, Eclipser Chaser and Cabinet Records in Germany. Daniel became somewhat of a mentor to the young artist guiding him through the early stages of his music career and encouraging him to develop his sound. As time passed their friendship grew stronger and Vicmari ended up becoming part of the Slope Music family with his debut album ‘Audiodidact’ being released on the label in 2016. The album received support from the likes of Brendon Moeller, Cab Drivers, DaRand Land, Pierre Estiene and before long all vinyl pressings of the album had sold out.
Following the relative success of the album, Vicmari began working on his live sets, bringing his productions to life by taking the dance floor on journeys of hypnotic grooves and transcendent melodies that quickly bloomed into the distinct sound he can now call his own. His live show has seen him grace the stages of events such as Rocking The Daisies, Afrika Burn, Cape Town’s Light House Festival, Ultra Festival and many more. His sets are a healthy mix of melody and mood all held down by warm and inviting grooves that would keep the energy simmering on any dancefloor.
Vicmari recently launched his radio show for the German-based radio station ‘Radio Electronica’. Here he interviews some of his favourite artists from the South African scene while showcasing his recent selections and upcoming releases.
