Silent Lies - Bad Business Club
This track was born out of a studio collaboration between Bad Business Club and 79.5. Their producer Morgan Wiley (Midnight Magic, Adeline) introduced the two main song writers, Alex Vans and Kate Mattison. Together they combine feel good disco lyrics, a Bill Evans-inspired jazzy chord progression, and some signature vocals.
The result is a structure that’s difficult to pin down, as multiple choruses blend with an instrumental bridge, and a Blondie-esque spoken-word chunk. The song is an intentional hot mess, but a hot mess that’s way more than the sum of its parts. Even though these guys hail from Brooklyn, there’s a distinct euro disco flavour present.
