Demarkus Lewis has been a real voice in the house world for more than 25 years. His music has come on influential staples like Large Music, King Street and Nervous, as well as his own Grin Music, Grin Traxx and Grin & Bass. He's a versatile artist with an authentic style, whether making tech, jack, deep or Afro-inspired sounds, and for that reason continues to DJ celebrated clubs across the US and Europe on a regular basis. 'Cold Heart' is a silky smooth groove, stripped back to the essentials but beautifully warm. The smeared chords make that so, while hooky motifs and twinkling pads bring a musicality that is all too rare. The icing on the cake is a smouldering r&b vocal that's aloof and magnetic. Slow-burn gem 'Love Still Lives' oozes late-night romance. The bubbly bassline nudges the groove forward with subtle swing that nods to classic US garage and a vocal that's equal parts tender and intoxicating. The whole thing is wrapped in syrupy pads that melt into the mix for after-dark love-ins.‘ Closer Touch My Love’ is another mood-soaked house cut for cosy corners and close company. Gentle, skipping drums create a soft, swaying rhythm as splashy cymbals shimmer like candlelight and a cooing neo-soul vocal whispers sweet nothings.
