Bogotá-based duo Rush City (Jonahlo & Joint4Nine), co-founders of
Ritmo Terco, return with their second vinyl release on the label — a
four-track EP of inspired reworks spanning boogie, Italo disco, deep
house, and electro.
Each cut pays homage to a classic or obscure source, reconstructed with
Rush City’s trademark analog warmth and sharp club sensibility. From
the reimagined 1984 Surface jam “When Your Ex Wants You Back”
— driven by 808s and acid lines — to the dubbed-out disco sleaze of
“Brown Sugar”, the A-side brings the funk with a modern twist.
Flip it over for a hypnotic, acid-tinged take on Dream 2 Science’s “My
Love Turns to Liquid”, and an electrified rework of Magazine 60’s
Italo anthem “Don Quichotte”, featuring re-recorded vocals and updated
synths.
An essential EP for selectors who love genre-bending, era-spanning edits
