Northumbrian Water is in Darlington with the message “Bin The Wipe!” Wipes that have been flushed down the loo are the biggest cause of blockages in our sewers.
Northumbria water say that all the waste people flush away is stopped in its tracks by blockages and can go either back to where it came from or out into the environment. Even those wipes that claim they are ‘flushable’ don’t break down like toilet tissue and can start or contribute to blockages.
