As we begin our study, “How to Be Free from Generational Curses”, we need to understand that God is exactly Who He says He is in Exodus 34:6-7
..."The LORD, the LORD God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth; who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin; yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations."
Instead of really trying to understand God as He has revealed Himself, they listen to the voices of others who depict God as either wrathful and vengeful or a pushover. Some will even go so far as to separate the God of the Old Testament from the God of the New Testament. In listening to others instead of to God, they wind up addressing not the One True God, but an idol they and others have created to replace Him.
They will never find true salvation or understand the Christian Faith as long as they try to serve their idol instead of accepting Him as He truly is, the One True God. The revelation God gave of Himself to Moses differs not at all from the revelation He gave to us all in His Son, Jesus Christ.
When we embrace that truth, we can begin to see scriptural, spiritual principles at work in the world and in our lives that we could never see before, and really begin to understand what Jesus meant when He said, “Whom the Son sets free, is free indeed.”
