Description

We find a scriptural, spiritual principle at work here in Exodus 34:6-7 where God reveals His nature to Moses. He reveals Himself as merciful and forgiving, but in no wise pardoning the guilty of sins being passed on from generation to generation. Many have a problem reconciling these attributes of His nature, and wind up focusing on one or the other. Either He is a God of wrath or a God of mercy, and they cannot fathom a God that is both.
Here the heart of the Gospel is revealed, It is only through the Cross that both aspects of God’s nature are coherently reconciled.
The challenge for us is, “How do you move from the side where the sins of the parents are being visited on the children to the side where you are living in the blessing of God, and break the cycle of teaching our children to sin?”
