When the Lord explained to the disciples what was expected of them as far as avoiding being a stumbling-block to others, and the lengths they were to go to in forgiving those who sinned against them, they didn’t feel adequate to the task, and responded, “Lord, increase our faith.”
The disciples had reached a point we must all come to before we can truly begin walking in faith. We must come to the realization that there is no way we can live up to God’s expectations in our own strength, and that we need His help.
In response, Jesus explained to them exactly what they needed to do if they wanted greater faith.
