Description

The Parables of the Lost Sheep, the Lost Coin and the Lost Son in Luke 15 depict different ways of getting lost. The sheep wanders off. The coin gets misplaced. The son leaves of his own volition.
We hear a lot about the lost sheep and the shepherd who seeks it out, and the son who returns home, but we don’t hear a whole lot about the lost coin, and the sort of people this parable represents. “Lost Coin People” are those who didn’t go off by themselves. Somehow they just find themselves far from God. They are those who have been abused, abandoned, neglected, and bumped. They find themselves living in shame and guilt, separated from God and much of society, thinking God could never receive them. In this parable, the Lord makes it clear that they are precious to Him, and He wants to bring them home.
