The Gift of Peace, Part 2 - Inner Peace
John 14:23-27
The Gospel has never been needed in the United States more than right now. Life expectancy in the United States has dropped for the second straight year. The cause for the increase is attributed to an increase in deaths from substance and alcohol abuse and suicide.
People who abuse alcohol and drugs are trying to deal with pain and despair. They are longing for a peace within, but can’t find it.
There is an obvious correlation between this lowering in life expectancy and our nations’ pushing The Way, The Truth and The Life out of our conversation.
When Jesus came into this world He brought with Him a peace that passes all understanding. It brings peace with God, peace within, and peace with others.
As people surrender their lives to God through Jesus Christ, they receive a peace that Jesus wants each of us to have.
Jesus said, “The thief comes but to kill, steal and destroy. I came that they might have life, and have it more abundantly.”
As the thief steals the Good News of the Gospel from the lips of the church, people are left only with paths of destruction to follow.
It’s time for the church to quit kowtowing to political correctness and special interests and once more proclaim the Good News loudly and clearly that Jesus Saves so that lives can be saved from destruction and despair. It has never been so evident: People need the Lord.
