Luke 4:1-13
The usual Lenten message about temptation goes like this: “Jesus was tempted. He didn’t give in to temptation. Be like Jesus. If you fail, just try harder.”
Temptation is not just passing or failing a test. It is about learning about who we really are, and where our personal spiritual growing edge is.
During this Lenten season I encourage you to not try to ignore your temptations, but instead to face them and let the Lord help you to understand what is really going on in your heart.
Satan wants to use temptation and failure to shame you, guilt you, isolate you and separate you from the love of God.
The Lord wants to use the temptation you experience to free you from the shackles that have kept you from the life and love He wants to share with you.
