The Fruit of the Spirit is the evidence of the Holy Spirit’s transforming power working in our lives. If we are lacking in the areas of Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-control, it’s not the fruit we need to be working on, but our relationship with God. The Fruit of the Spirit is the evidence of the Holy Spirit’s presence in our lives. The fruit is not ours, but the Spirit’s. As we walk in a loving, close relationship with our Savior, the fruit comes forth as a matter of course. Working on the fruit, and not on the relationship is an exercise in futility. Working on our relationship with God by following the Spirit is an investment that brings incredible, eternal returns!
