The Law of His Return and Reign
2 Peter 3:3-18
Jesus’ return is inevitable. It has been foretold for thousands of years in God’s Word.
The Old Testament foretells it. Just as The Old Testament writers foretold His birth, death, and resurrection many hundreds of years before they happened, they also foretold the return of Jesus.
Because they were spot on about His birth, death, and resurrection, we can be sure that they will also be right about this.
Jesus has promised it, just as He promised to rise from the dead after 3 days. Since He was able to keep that promise, we know He will keep this one as well/
He quoted Old Testament prophecies about His return the same as He quoted them about His death and resurrection.
His apostles talk about it in their epistles to the churches a lot, and we know that they received a lot of information about this that they have passed on to us.
We are witnessing the fulfillment of this law daily
Throughout Scripture we find three admonitions given to us about the Lord’s return:
Watch faithfully. Work diligently. Wait peacefully.
When the Lord comes, will He find you among those who love Him and call Him Savior and Lord?
When the Lord comes, will He find you doing what He has commanded you to do?
When the Lord comes, will He find you eager to see Him?
When the Lord comes, will He find you ready for His appearing?
When the Lord calls with a shout from heaven, will you instantly rise to be with Him?
When the Lord appears in the clouds, will your heart rejoice with exceedingly great joy?
You have it within your grasp to positively answer these questions. How will you choose to respond to the Lord’s challenges upon your life?
The fact is, He is coming again!
