Acts 1:1-9
Dr. A. C. Dixon, a great preacher in the last century said, “When we rely upon organization, we get what organization can do. When we rely upon education, we get what education can do. When we rely upon eloquence, we get what eloquence can do. But when we rely upon the Holy Spirit, we get what God can do.”
The great folly of the contemporary church is that we have set aside the plan Jesus had for us, and replaced it with many other supposedly good things. You see, He did not say, “You shall be social justice warriors or community organizers.” He said, “Tarry in Jerusalem until you receive power from on high, and you shall be my witnesses.”
Brothers and sisters, we have been relying on the wrong things.
