Louisville’s flood protection system surrounds part of the city with a network of walls, levees and pumping stations--designed to keep the Ohio River out and prevent inland flooding. In a lot of places, it’s easy to overlook. But not so much in Butchertown, where the wall goes down the middle of Quincy Street.
Curious Louisville listener Rich Kerber wanted to know why the street was divided back during the middle of the last century, so WFPL’s Erica Peterson went on a quest for the answer — which reminded us that there are still some things you can't just Google.
