Louisville has earned the distinction of having one of the fastest-growing urban heat islands in the country, but what does that mean?
A landmark study of Louisville’s urban heat island was released last month, and offers tailored recommendations for the city’s neighborhoods to combat the phenomenon. It’ll take hundreds of thousands of new trees and converting thousands of parking lots and dark roofs to cooler materials. But now that the study is out, what actions can and will the city take?
Our guests are study author Brian Stone of Georgia Tech, Louisville Office of Sustainability Director Maria Koetter, and Sarah Lynn Cunningham of the Louisville Climate Action Network.
