Description

The Assistant Police Chief in the town of Prospect was fired in September. And last week, media outlets discovered why. Todd Shaw was suspended, then fired, after Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell alerted the mayor of Prospect that Shaw had sent numerous racist Facebook messages to a Louisville Metro Police recruit.

Among other things, Shaw advised the recruit to shoot any black juveniles who were caught smoking marijuana.

In the days since the news has been made public, Shaw has been repeatedly disavowed by officials in both Prospect and Louisville, where he spent 20 years on the police force. WFPL’s Kyeland Jackson brings us this story.
