Public schools across Kentucky were closed Monday and Tuesday... Many are on spring break, while others were closed due to teacher absences—those teachers have been protesting cuts to education spending and their pensions.
Lawmakers say the state has more than $41 billion of unfunded pension liability over the next 30 years, and reforms are needed. But educators say the cuts to their retirement safety nets are unacceptable.
On Monday, thousands of them filled the state Capitol building to make their voices heard. WFPL’s Roxanne Scott has more on what they had to say.
