Hundreds of Jefferson County parents have been blocked from volunteering at their children’s schools because of prior crimes they’ve committed. Most of those crimes are for non-violent drug offenses and don’t involve children. And the schools that ban the most parents also have more low-income students, which can lead to hours of missed opportunities.
