Step is Black American artform of rhythmic stomping, clapping, movement and spoken word that has roots in the arrival of enslaved Africans in the Americas. During Black history month, students at a local middle school, Grace James Academy in Louisville took a deep dive into the history and practice of Step. WFPL’s Jess Clark spent time with the Grace James step team last week and has this report.
