Cvgebird: "Dj’ing brought me back to music when grief had taken my voice. After losing my grandmother in 2023, the music inside me went silent. For years, my voice and pen had been my instruments—but it was a dj controller, gifted by a friend, that brought me back to sound. What began as daily sessions in my living room became a new artistic language—one rooted in healing, joy, and connection. Since then, I’ve grown into one of Philadelphia’s most celebrated DJs, blending curated mixes with live vocals to create dynamic, one-of-a-kind sets. As co-curator and resident DJ for Tulips Philly, I help hold one of the city’s most beloved BIPOC queer spaces—a home for joy, safety, and music-driven liberation. My soundscapes draw from my BIPOC Latinx heritage and Philadelphia’s rich music history, moving fluidly from house to Latin-fusion, Soul to RnB and Hiphop, uncovering hidden gems and timeless classics that bridge generations."
