Under his Shai FM moniker, Jia Liu (@shaifm) creates and plays percussive music with a global orientation. Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, he draws upon a wide spectrum of bass and club, connecting threads across cultures, geographies, and eras. His sets are shapeshifting explorations of rhythm and emotion, from dubby downtempo to floor-shaking drum workouts. His latest EP “Bend and Break” explores these sounds, along with a recent release with SF Bay Area label Club Moniker.
