Soycupid is a multidisciplinary artist from Florida, now based in Philadelphia. Their taste as a DJ and producer was shaped by a household steeped in acid jazz, neo-soul, and gospel music. Early exposure to electro and Miami bass classics like Set It Off by Strafe, Planet Rock by Afrika Bambaataa, and I Wanna Rock by Luke laid the foundation for their deep love of electronic dance music.
Since then, Soycupid has continued to explore with childlike curiosity—seeking sounds that evoke a sense of expansion and wonder. Their library spans a wide range of genres, from dubby minimal techno and hard-hitting Jersey club to classic jazz funk, yet the influence of their roots is always evident.
When curating a set, Soycupid draws on their upbringing in the AME church, where music served as a vessel for spiritual connection and liberation. Each performance is guided by the same intention—ascension. Rooted in early dance music traditions, their selections are hypnotic, soulful, and raw.
