Teeyam is an Iranian-American DJ and producer based in Philadelphia via NYC via SF—his sound traverses zones of experimental techno/house, acid, electro, breaks, wave, and brooding psychedelia. Drawing inspiration from his love of experimental cinema, soundbites and samples interweave with unhinged grooves, forging an uncanny sonic tapestry that explores the fringes of dance music.
He has DJ’d for over 15 years–cutting his teeth in San Francisco, where he grew to be a pivotal figure in the Bay Area scene. His multimedia cinema and dark dance party, “They’re Here” held residency at Underground SF, and he curated Mutek San Francisco. In 2021, Mixmag ranked his contribution to the mix series, Pi Pi Pi, as one of the best mixes of the year, calling it a “sweltering and devilish blend of sounds” and “fun as hell rave music”. In 2024 in NYC, He launched the monthly event series called House Of Baba, which spotlights SWANA Musicians and DJs, delivering cutting-edge sounds in the diasporic experimental dance music scene.
Teeyam is one half of the experimental dance music project, PHREAKERS, self-described “Sludge-induced gutter techno acid punk”. Their first EP “Trash Can” is out on Left Hand Path, and the tracks have been played by world-class DJs and producers around the world.
