The Assignment: Locate three sound sources and make something with them.
The three sounds: a vehicle driving speedily, static between radio stations, and rain.
Background:
“Wherever we are, what we hear is mostly noise. When we ignore it, it disturbs us. When we listen to it, we find it fascinating,”
John Cage said in his 1937 lecture, “The Future of Music: Credo.”
He continued:
“The sound of a truck at fifty miles per hour. Static between the stations. Rain. We want to capture and control these sounds, to use them, not as sound effects, but as musical instruments.”
In this week’s Disquiet Junto project, we take the proposition literally.

Contexte:
«Partout, ce que nous entendons est principalement du bruit. Lorsqu'on l'ignore, cela dérange. Lorsque on l’écoute, c'est fascinant ».
John Cage le déclarait dans sa conférence de 1937, «L'avenir de la musique: Credo».
Il continuait:
«Le bruit d'un camion à cinquante miles par heure. Des interférences entre des stations. la pluie. Nous voulons capturer et contrôler ces sons, les utiliser, non pas comme effets sonores, mais comme instruments de musique. »
Dans le projet Disquiet Junto de cette semaine, nous prenons cette proposition au pied de la lettre.
