Not only is MurphStar a phenomenal DJ in his own right (I've heard him play on a dozen occasions at least and he's never failed to whip the dance floor into an absolute frenzy), he's also well-known for bringing some of the best international talent from the world of breakbeat to San Francisco. Murph was at it again on November 20th as his crew, Seismic, welcomed the venerable Plump DJs to Mighty to celebrate their much anticipated CD release on the Global Underground label.
Murph wasted no time lathering up a dedicated dance crowd for the Plumps and, amazingly, I was able to record his entire opening set!! If you know Murph (or me), you may also be familiar with the long, sad saga of many failed attempts on my part (due to technical difficulties or drunkenness) to record his live sets. But the DJ gods must have been smiling on us that evening because the recording went off without a hitch. And I have no doubt you'll find yourself grinning from ear to ear, and bobbing your head, to this tasty breakbeat set from Murphstar. Enjoy!
