Description

Lest We Forget is played and sung by ArthurRP and was recorded in Sizzle Studio, Bournemouth, UK. I wrote this song as a tribute to all those that fought and died in WWI. The words and melody are deliberately stretched out, endless and sticky as the mud! My melody and the adding of instruments is the method I have used to appropriately convey the story. I am aware that there is a debt I owe that I never can repay. My father, shown in the photo just before he left for France, Private George Samuel Steemson was called up 6 days after his 18th birthday and fought in the trenches 1917 -1918. He survived but lived with the memories of the horrors he had seen for the rest of his life. He died aged 70 in 1969 his recovery from surgery hampered by his being gassed in WWI. He rarely spoke of his experiences.
