Modern Folk - I came across Nieves through social media, and I'm really glad that I did. A chance encounter with a friend's Facebook wall (thanks Ross) led me to the video for 'Legs and Arms' on youtube. I was instantly drawn in by the simple yet effective piano motif at the beginning of the song. The gradual addition of the guitar, vocals and drums brings the song to a crescendo that peaks in a really catchy chorus. I wanted to hear more and listened on Spotify and was impressed at the overall standard of songwriting and arrangement on the EP Matriarch.
