Rock - There's been a change over the last few years... The electric guitar used to be predominantly the domain of men looking to show off, now there's a new generation of women on the scene looking to push the boundaries of the instrument and the gender expectations associated. One of these ladies is this week's guest on The Proc-Cast, Emily Musolino. Emily is a native North Carolinian, hailing from Durham where she lives currently following time at the Berklee College of Music. She's multi-talented, listing sound engineering, songwriting and guitar playing as a few of her skills.
Listening back to this episode, I'm really impressed by the quality of the production on Emily's self produced music. Most people produce at home in their own studios and struggle to get a good end product. Emily hasn't had that problem. Her own Blue Moose Recording Studio is a fully functioning recording studio in Durham and features some great gear and an engineer with a great ear. It's really refreshing seeing a female recording engineer too, as it's typically another male dominated profession.
